On November 15, former President Donald Trump finally declared his intention to run for president in 2024, to the delight of his devoted supporters. Some politicians have started speculating about the potential running mate for the 45th president. Sarah Palin, a former vice presidential candidate, refrained from participating in that rumor but urged him to avoid the same error as John McCain, the Republican nominee for president in 2008.
In an interview with Newsmax presenter Carl Higbie on “Eric Bolling The Balance” on Wednesday, November 16, Palin said she doesn’t believe Trump will use his choice of a second-in-command to check a lot of boxes. She does not think that the Republican Party will be able to influence the presidential candidate’s choice either.

Due to Alaska’s practice of ranked-choice voting, Palin is still awaiting news of her victory in the US House contest. The system does away with primary elections and requires voters to rank their top two candidates on a ballot in that order. After that, the nominee with the fewest votes in each round is eliminated.
Palin advised Trump to push against ranked-choice voting everywhere. By doing away with primaries, it would enable GOP candidates to be chosen by the general electorate instead of him.
