Famous Rockstar Ditches California For Red State: We Did It For Our Daughter

Nikki Sixx of Mötley Crüe, aged 65, along with his 38-year-old wife Courtney and their 4-year-old daughter Ruby, has decided to make Wyoming their main residence, departing from Southern California where they had lived for over 40 years. This relocation reflects a trend seen in many Americans seeking a break from urban chaos and societal issues, as Wyoming’s sparsely populated state offers serene landscapes and various outdoor activities.

The choice to relocate stemmed from worries about their daughter’s safety, driven by escalating concerns about school shootings, natural disasters, and societal challenges prevalent in California.

“Moving up to Wyoming was something really great for me and my wife and also for how we wanted to raise our daughter.”

Nikki Sixx rose to fame as the bassist and primary songwriter for the American heavy metal band Mötley Crüe, formed in 1981. The group became renowned not just for their powerful music but also for their lavish lifestyle marked by substance abuse and legal issues, a prevalent feature among numerous rock bands in the 1980s. Sixx himself faced the challenges of heroin addiction, an experience that left a profound impact on his musical compositions and writing.

His impact extends beyond the realm of music to include advocacy for addiction recovery and mental health awareness. Drawing from his personal experiences, he strives to assist others confronting similar challenges.

“And there’s no entertainment business here [Wyoming], so you’re not dealing with any of that kind of stuff — you’re just dealing with blue-collar people. I relate to it ’cause I came from Idaho in the ’70s, which it’s 40 minutes to Idaho from where we live.”

Recently, Sylvester Stallone and his spouse garnered attention by opting to move from California to Florida. This shift wasn’t solely a change of surroundings but also served as a source of creative inspiration for Stallone. In his Netflix documentary titled “Sly,” he noted that altering his environment proved advantageous in rekindling his creative processes.

In recent weeks, comedian Bill Engvall declared his choice to depart California for Utah. Despite having spent three decades in California and expressing affection for the state, Engvall cited escalating taxes and economic considerations as motivating factors for his relocation.

During a conversation with the Wall Street Journal, the acclaimed actress Angelina Jolie recently expressed her disillusionment with Hollywood. “I grew up in quite a shallow place. Of all the places in the world, Hollywood is not a healthy place. So you seek authenticity.”
