Vice President Kamala Harris will have a lot of work to do in 2022 to rehabilitate her public image, after a year filled with humiliating gaffes and sinking support ratings.
In July, Harris sparked outrage by claiming that voter identification requirements discriminate against rural Americans, who, she said, would be unable to make photocopies due to a lack of big-box office businesses in their region.
The vice president’s comment was widely criticised, with one rural American jumping in to reassure Harris that he could make photocopies.
While touring a Parisian lab, Kamala Harris was chastised for speaking to French experts with a “French accent.”
In November, a video showing Harris speaking to French scientists on a visit to the Institut Pasteur in France went viral after it looked that the vice president was speaking in a faux French accent.

When asked by NBC News in June why the administration had yet to visit the southern border in the midst of the crisis, Harris, who had been designated by Biden as his “border czar,” rejected the topic while falsely saying “we’ve been to the border.”
When Biden opted to leave Afghanistan, Harris boasted of being the ‘last voice in the room.’ In April, Harris claimed that she was the final person in the room with Biden when he made his choice to withdraw America’s troop presence in Afghanistan, indicating that she was the last person in the room with Biden when he made his decision.
But, a few months later, as Afghanistan descended into turmoil during the final days of US engagement in the nation, having a crucial role in that choice proved to be more detrimental to the vice president than anything else.
