Over 300,000 PowerXL air fryers are subject to a recall as declared by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission on December 14th. These particular air fryers, with a price range of $60 to $190, were retailed at prominent stores such as Target, Kohl’s, and Walmart.
Empower Brands, the manufacturer, has initiated a recall for two distinct models of their PowerXL dual-basket air fryer. Empower Brands disclosed that they have received numerous complaints about the air fryers malfunctioning during usage, with dozens of reported incidents. Among these cases, three users mentioned sustaining burns as a result.
As a precautionary measure, the manufacturer is issuing a recall for the potentially affected models. The recalled models are DUAF-005 and DUAF-10, both belonging to the PowerXL Dual-Basket Air Fryer line. These units were available for purchase between August 2021 and October 2023 and were offered in both black and cinnamon colors.
A mere week prior to the recall of PowerXL air fryers, the U.S. CPSC declared a recall for 1.75 million Steamfast Home & Away Travel Steam Irons. This action was taken due to a heightened risk of burns to consumers associated with the irons.
As per the statement from the iron manufacturer, Vornado Air LLC, the power cord of the implicated irons is susceptible to damage, posing a potential risk of overheating. This overheating could result in burns to the user or even lead to a fire. Vornado Air, headquartered in Andover, Kansas, has received almost 75 incident reports, along with an additional 18 reports citing issues with the iron’s cord such as sparking, smoking, overheating, or ignition.
In addition, the CPSC has noted two reports of minor shocks associated with the recalled irons. These irons were retailed at Walmart, Amazon.com, and Bed Bath and Beyond, both in-store and on their respective websites—Steamfast.com and Vornado.com.
As per the guidance from the Consumer Product Safety Commission, if you possess one of the recalled models, it is imperative to discontinue usage promptly.
