After informing an audience that Florida will receive Hurricane Ian relief based on equity, Vice President Kamala Harris has come under fire.
Harris stated during the DNC Women’s Leadership Forum that low-income areas and people of color will be the first in line for aid since they will be the communities most affected by the so-called climate change.
This is false. @VP's rhetoric is causing undue panic and must be clarified. FEMA Individual Assistance is already available to all Floridians impacted by Hurricane Ian, regardless of race or background. “We have to address this in a way that is about giving resources based on equity, understanding that we fight for equality, but we also need to fight for equity. If we want people to be in an equal place sometimes we need to take into account those disparities and do that work.”
Florida people and Gov. Ron DeSantis’ (R-Fla) team criticized Harris’ remarks in a public outcry.

You can’t make this up.

Kamala Harris said the administration will be giving hurricane resources “based on equity” by directing funds to “communities of color.”

Elon Musk, the billionaire CEO of Tesla, protested against Harris, arguing that the money should be distributed based on the greatest need, not on the basis of race or anything else.
