Jimmy Kimmel, a popular late-night host, claims that his drastic decrease in popularity is due to his criticism of Donald Trump.
After Jimmy Kimmel Live was loaded with nonstop jokes criticizing Donald Trump, half of Kimmel’s supporters reportedly stopped tuning in.
“I have lost half of my fans – maybe more than that, he said in an interview.
Kimmel reportedly received warnings from ABC execs and other shows on the network about his overuse of anti-Trump gags and that his fan base would decrease if he continued to parody his views.
I simply remarked, “If that’s what you want to do, I understand and I don’t resent you for it, but I’m not going to do that,” according to Kimmel.
Even though he was aware that being a fair host and comedian would increase his ratings, Kimmel claimed he was unwilling to do so.
He kept telling the executives that it was acceptable if they wanted someone else to host the program.
Naturally, Kimmel feels like a hero for forgoing the audience in order to criticize the Republican Party, and in particular, Donald Trump.
According to Kimmel, there is a price to pay when it comes to your audience, but if you stay in the middle, you might do okay.
Kimmel simply can’t toe that line because of how strongly he feels about Trump.
Like other late-night shows, Kimmel’s show has seen a sharp decline in ratings over the past few years.
Kimmel stated in 2019 that he believes speaking out against Donald Trump is his moral duty.
