WWE Star Rushed Away in Ambulance After Collapsing in Ring

The WWE is a popular sports entertainment organization that uses scripted storytelling to keep fans invested behind the scenes and in the ring by fabricating feuds, alliances, love stories, and betrayals. In fact, when watching a sports entertainment program, it can be difficult to tell what is real.

Roxanne Perez, a professional wrestler, was defending her Women’s Championship title against Meiko Satomura on March 7. Perez collapsed face-first onto the mat after winning the match. The collapse appeared to be part of a storytelling stunt at first, until NXT referees rushed to the ring to assist, causing many to be concerned. She was stretchered out of the arena and loaded into an ambulance.

Still, it was unclear whether the incident was the result of a plot until WWE NXT announced on Twitter that doctors had kept Perez in the hospital overnight for observation and testing.

Fans expressed their concern about the scare on social media, with many wondering what happened. Others wished Perez well and hoped her injuries weren’t too serious. Some pro wrestling history buffs compared the collapse to previous WWE plots, hoping that the recent incident was just part of another storyline.

Perez made a name for herself in the wrestling world by becoming the first Women’s Breakout Tournament Champion, according to her bio. She went on to win the NXT Women’s Tag Team Championship before becoming the first woman to win the Women’s Iron Survivor Challenge at NXT Deadline.

Shawn Michaels, who many in the wrestling world describe as the most talented sports entertainer ever, spoke out after the incident. He said Perez “left it all in the ring,” and wished her a quick recovery. Viewers should find out soon whether it was a real injury or a ploy.
