Jen Psaki, speaking to reporters at the White House on Wednesday, criticized Americans who joyously removed their masks earlier this week after a federal judge overturned the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention rule.
Only one plane full of passengers, according to Psaki, reacted warmly to the news. There are scores of recordings of relieved passengers releasing their faces, as well as thousands of unreported flight reactions.

Videos circulating online tell otherwise.
“Just landed after a long flight on United, during which a flight attendant announced the mask mandate had been struck down & put up a sign. When we got off, the pilots were smiling. We told them it was wonderful to see their faces again. Majority of passengers were also thrilled.” Kate Pavlich said in a tweet.

Another video revealed “Ladies and gentlemen, this is your pilot speaking. This is the most important announcement I’ve ever made. The federal mask mandate is over. Take off your mask if you choose!”
A wonderful moment mid flight on @alaskaair today!”

Meanwhile, when the CDC requested it, the Department of Justice confirmed Wednesday evening that federal attorneys will attempt to challenge the decision to repeal the mask rule. The CDC stated in a statement that the appeal is required to defend the federal agency’s jurisdiction.
CDC has urged the Department of Justice to proceed with an appeal in Health Freedom Defense Fund, Inc., et al., v. Biden, et al., to defend CDC’s public health authority beyond the continuing assessment announced last week. According to the CDC, an order requiring masks in the indoor transportation corridor is still necessary for public health at this time, according to a statement released by Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
