Earlier in the week, U.S. Border Patrol Chief Raul Ortiz took to Twitter to detail the statistical reality of the Biden Administration’s decision to leave the border wide open. Ortiz painted this scene over the course of three days on the first weekend of May.
According to Ortiz, 26,382 migrants crossed the border during those three days, with an additional 7,399 crossing illegally. That works up to 11,260 people crossing the border daily, and that’s just at the ports of entry we know about.
There were also 164 pounds of marijuana, 83 pounds of meth, 66 pounds of cocaine, and 11 pounds of fentanyl found beside these folks. Don’t forget that even 2mg of fentanyl may be fatal. According to Ortiz, in addition to five pounds of heroin and twelve thousand dollars in cash, one pistol, three sex offenders, one wanted felon, and one gang member were discovered crossing.
Looking over a full week, Ortiz revealed even more alarming data. About 10,500 illegal aliens everyday cross at just the ports of entry, for a total of 54,951 apprehensions and 18,698 escapes.
Two agents were attacked, $714,492 was confiscated in cash, 101 kilograms of cocaine, 1,050 kilograms of marijuana, 2,721 kilograms of meth, 138 kilograms of fentanyl, 16 guns, six sexual offenders, and seven gang members were arrested. According to Ortiz, the number of migrants crossing in the previous 10 days increased by about 177%; this does not account for those who crossed unnoticed.
When Title 42 ends on May 12, Border Patrol agents anticipate a major influx of 700,000 to 1 million additional migrants. Texas Governor Greg Abbott has sent a small Tactical Border Force of 545 troops to assist the 10,000 members of the Texas National Guard currently stationed there.
Abbott said that the problem was Biden’s fault and that he needed elite troops, not the 1,500 military secretaries who Biden dispatched to help with the crossing. Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas insists there is no border crisis, despite mounting evidence to the opposite.
