President Joe Biden’s chief of staff in the White House claims that he has won the battle against inflation, but many people have criticized him on social media for the exorbitant costs they continue to pay.
Ron Klain lamented on Twitter that news concerning inflation data was not being covered as frequently as it had been when inflation was at a 40-year high.
He mentioned in a tweet that inflation had fallen to 2% throughout the second half of 2022 from a peak of nearly 7%.
While Klain was spiking the football, his message was mostly ignored on social media.
“How come the media isn’t focusing on the 3-month annualized number? Cmon now,” Steve Goldstein, the head of MarketWatch’s European bureau, answered.
“Ron, the prices are still high, the increase has just slowed because it’s a rolling 12 month calculation. Have you been to a grocery store in the last year?” one reply said.
“Do you understand the difference between cost of living and rate of increase? If wages have not caught up to those 40-year high rates of increase, what does it matter to the average person if the rate has declined? They still can’t afford basic necessities!” another reply stated.
Cardi B, a well-known rap artist, posted an angry rant about excessive inflation on Thursday; she urged those in positions of authority to take all possible measures to lower prices, so Klain’s explanation is probably not going to convince her.
