Man Wrongfully Arrested After Facial Recognition Error

Authorities in Louisiana seem to be modeling their actions after those of the CCP.

After Louisiana authorities used facial recognition technology to link Randall Reid, 28, to petty theft, Reid was unlawfully detained.

Following the issuance of a fugitive warrant for Reid by Louisiana authorities, he was arrested in Dekalb County, Georgia.

Reid was detained on November 25 in Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, for stealing purses, according to Reid’s attorney Tommy Calogero, who said his client was released on December 1 after face recognition mistakes were discovered.

Reid said to the Associated Press:

“They told me I had a warrant out of Jefferson Parish. I said, ‘What is Jefferson Parish?’” Reid said. “I have never been to Louisiana a day in my life. Then they told me it was for theft. So not only have I not been to Louisiana, I also don’t steal.”

Many Americans want the United States to remain far behind China in the adoption of facial recognition technology in public settings.

Nearly every person is recorded by China’s facial recognition technology, according to a 2019 database breach.

In schools, kids are also being monitored.

One citizen posted on Twitter, “WEF – facial recognition in schools is “almost like an extra teaching assistant.” Our children’s free will, thought and speech- all monitored, judged, and controlled. Surveillance won’t make them safer, it will suffocate them. Do you see it yet?”
