On Wednesday, as Jill Biden, the first lady, entered a Connecticut ice cream store, she was accosted by unidentified onlookers.
As Biden entered the Arethusa Farms ice cream store in New Haven, a guy yelled at her, “Your husband is the worst President we ever had, you owe us gas money,”
Biden waved back and said, “Thank you! Thank you for your support, thank you!
Then, a second jeerer yelled at Biden, “You suck!”
As part of a nationwide summer learning tour emphasizing the learning loss children experience as a result of coronavirus lockdowns, Biden was in Connecticut together with Education Secretary Miguel Cardona and Connecticut Governor Ned Lamont.
Arethusa Farms wrote on Instagram that the visit by Biden had left them feeling incredibly humbled and honored.
President Joe Biden tested positive for the coronavirus after returning from a trip to the Middle East, the White House disclosed the day before Biden’s visit.
“This morning, President Biden tested positive for COVID-19. He is fully vaccinated and twice boosted and experiencing very mild symptoms. He has begun taking Paxlovid. Consistent with CDC guidelines, he will isolate at the White House and will continue to carry out all of his duties fully during that time. He has been in contact with members of the White House staff by phone this morning, and will participate in his planned meetings at the White House this morning via phone and Zoom from the residence,” Karine Jean-Pierre, the White House press secretary, stated in a written statement on Thursday.
