A Republican lawmaker, Representative Tim Burchett (R-TN), has sparked controversy by asserting the reality of extraterrestrial life. Burchett made a dramatic announcement, stating that aliens exist, but their presence is being concealed by the federal government. According to him, attempts to disclose this information were thwarted by influential figures in Washington.
On the 26th of December, Burchett, a former mayor of Knox County who has been serving as the representative for Tennessee’s 2nd District in Congress since 2019, made an appearance on “Rob Schmitt Tonight” on Newsmax.
During the appearance, he asserted the existence of aliens and suggested that the federal government possesses certain information about them, maintaining secrecy. Burchett mentioned attempting to introduce an amendment to the 2024 Defense Authorization Act, mandating the government to disclose the information, but his proposal was ultimately excluded.
In response to inquiries about the administration’s commitment to keeping information about alien visitors confidential, Burchett stated that revealing such details would jeopardize the Pentagon’s operations. He alleged a longstanding cover-up and asserted that if the government openly acknowledged the existence of aliens, the US military would seek research funding.
Rather, he explained that the responsibility has been delegated to defense contractors. Since these are private enterprises rather than government branches, they are not subject to Freedom of Information Act requests.
This isn’t the initial instance where Burchett has broached the topic of aliens. In July of the previous year, he led a House panel addressing the issue and advocated for complete transparency regarding the government’s knowledge of UFOs.
However, Congress approved more restricted legislation last July, which would disclose certain information but not all of it. The remaining details are mandated to be released within a 25-year timeframe.
According to Burchett, the intelligence community orchestrated the action, while alternative sources suggest that the Pentagon also resisted complete disclosure.
