Nancy Pelosi Calls Republicans “Losers”

Former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was the first woman to lead a major political party in Congress, and she spent decades working on Capitol Hill. As a result of her success, she has amassed a sizable group of fans who believe what she says and support her policies without question. Former California Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi still has strong opinions and isn’t shy about sharing them, especially with those who don’t agree with her.

Pelosi called Republican members “losers” and pretended to sweep them out of the way with her hands during an exclusive interview with John Casey of the progressive news site Advocate. When Casey asked his interviewee about the “hateful legislation in state Houses all over the country,” Pelosi emphasized how Republicans are “losing on guns” and “losing on women’s right to choose.” She then went on to say that drag is not a threat, and so the right-wing party will “lose on that too.” It seems like Pelosi went right for the insults instead of trying to have a rational discussion about the merits of various political perspectives.

Pelosi thinks Republicans are resisting women’s and LGBTQ+ rights and other progressive causes out of “hate” for those groups rather than any other motivation. The most typical Republican retort, that the anti-immigrant measures being passed by conservative states around the country are not discriminatory, was not addressed by her. They just make sure that youngsters don’t go to events with sexually explicit content like drag performances until they are older and that biological guys with physical advantages don’t participate in women’s sports.

Pelosi said that she is hopeful more people who identify as LGBTQ+ would run for office in the United States and continue the fight for more freedom and marital equality.
