James Comer, the chairman of the House Oversight Committee, stated on Monday that six additional members of the Biden family may have benefited from the family’s many business enterprises, increasing the total number of kin involved to nine.
The conclusions follow an examination of suspicious activity reports submitted by banks to the Treasury Department warning of possible criminal behavior in transactions involving President Biden’s family by the Kentucky Republican congressman and other legislators on the panel.
“Thousands of pages of financial records related to the Biden family, their companies, and associates’ business schemes were made available to members of the House Committee on Oversight and Accountability, which confirm the importance of this investigation. The Biden family enterprise is centered on Joe Biden’s political career and connections, and it has generated an exorbitant amount of money for the Biden family. We’ve identified six additional members of Joe Biden’s family who may have benefited from the Biden family’s businesses that we are investigating, bringing the total number of those involved or benefiting to nine,” Comer stated.
Comer said last month that his committee has discovered proof that at least three members of the Biden family and two friends received funds of Chinese origin in 2017, just less than two months after Joe Biden left Barack Obama’s administration as vice president.
Bank records obtained by the committee reveal that in March 2017, a company connected to the energy firm CEFC China Energy, which is backed by the Chinese Communist Party, wired $3 million to a member of the Biden family named Rob Walker, who then distributed it over roughly three months, according to Comer.
As part of the 2017 agreement, it seems that first son Hunter Biden received payments totaling approximately $610,000, first brother James Biden received payments totaling about $360,000, and the president’s daughter-in-law Hallie Biden received payments totaling about $25,000.
An additional “Unknown Biden” who got four payments totalling $70,000 in 2017 was included in the panel’s March document.
Comer gave no hints as to the identities of the six new Biden family members identified by the committee on Monday.
“The Oversight Committee will continue to pursue additional bank records to follow the Bidens’ tangled web of financial transactions to determine if the Biden family has been targeted by foreign actors and if there is a national security threat. We will soon provide the public with more information about what we’ve uncovered to date. The American people need transparency and accountability, and the Oversight Committee will deliver much needed answers.”
