A federal judge gave a man a 16-year jail term on Tuesday for his part in the fictitious scheme to kidnap Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
Adam Fox was found guilty of possessing a weapon of mass destruction and conspiring to kidnap, in August.
In the FBI’s fabricated kidnapping case in Michigan, two individuals were found not guilty, and two men were released in April as a result of a hung jury.
The two men who had been freed following the hung jury returned to court.
Over the summer, defendants Adam Fox and Barry Croft went on trial for the second time.
Barry Croft and Adam Fox, in late August, were both found guilty of all charges linked to a plot to abduct Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
Adam Fox was expected to receive a life sentence but the judge absolved him.
Adam Fox was given a 16-year sentence rather than a life term by US District Judge Robert Jonker on Tuesday after questioning whether he was the plot’s natural leader.
The FBI revealed in a press conference in October 2020, that it had thwarted a plot by a purported right-wing militia to kidnap and murder Michigan Governor Gretchen Whitmer.
With only a few weeks till election day, the Whitmer kidnapping plot was used as a club against Trump in the media, which covered it nonstop.
In the kidnapping investigation involving Michigan Whitmer, the FBI had at least 12 informants.
The Whitmer attack was coordinated, funded, and planned by the FBI, who also enlisted the assistance of local men.
One of the six defendants, Brandon Caserta, was represented by Michael Hills, who revealed texts indicating an FBI field agent ordering an informant to fabricate evidence, frame an innocent guy, and delete texts.
For this reason, federal prosecutors in the Whitmer kidnapping case are refusing to turn over text messages and laptops from FBI informants. The plot was in fact conceived by the FBI. They funded the conspiracy, oversaw the operation, and used the defenseless guys as pawns in their wicked scheme.
