Los Angeles County issued a new health order that requires proof of COVID-19 vaccine to be admitted to indoor bars and wineries.
Barbara Ferrer, the director of the county’s Department of Public Health says that patrons and employees of these establishments must have received at least one dose of vaccine before Oct. 7, and their second dose by November 4.
According to Red State, Ferrer has a doctorate degree in social welfare from Brandeis University.
Patrons who attend outdoor mega events that have 10,000 or more participants will need to produce proof of vaccination within 72 hours.
ABC7 reports that Ferrer stated to the county Board of Supervisors, “This modified health officer order aligns the continuing need to reduce transmission risk and increase vaccination coverage. This is a reasonable way forward, which will position us better to break the cycle.
Ferrer states that the county’s health officials believe that vaccine mandates are a good strategy to quickly increase vaccination coverage and end the pandemic.
These mega events include Dodgers, Rams, and Chargers games.
